• With a broad experience of acting for charities of different types and sizes the Charities Team can offer solutions and assistance to charities and their trustees whatever their needs, whether it is buying new premises or dealing with the Charity Commission.
• As a preliminary measure the Charities Team can review the existing structure and documents to provide advice on any immediate requirements that need to be fulfilled. In the increasingly regulated area of charities law the Charities Team can provide the legal solutions and assistance that allows a Charity to deliver real public benefit.

Who we are and how we work

• The Charities Team is based in the Commercial Department but pulls together the resources from around the firm to offer the full range of services that a charity needs.
• With close links to accountants and other specialists locally and throughout the region, the Charities Team will ensure a Charity has access to all the professional advice it requires.

• Advice on the formation, incorporation and merger of charities including assistance with the charity structure.
• Dealing with issues relating to compliance and trustee duties.
• Property advice in respect of the sale and purchase of land, lettings and landlord and tenant issues.
• General commercial advice including contracts with fundraisers.
• Assistance with and attendance at trustee and annual meetings as required.
• Legal updates provided as appropriate.
• Seminars offered free of charge.
